Nador is a Moroccan city on the east coast. It is renowned for its port trade and for the metal industry. It has always occupied a strategic position and acted as the lookout point for the Cape of the Three Forks that stretches towards Spain.
History
Nador is a meeting point of Berber, Phoenician, Roman and Islamic cultures. In the past, Nador was chosen as the seat of the kings of Morocco, for example, King Omar in the ninth century, later the Berber sovereign Yūsuf Ibn Tāshfīn, decided to place his troops on Mount Temsamane. In 1774 the sultan Mohammed Ben Abdallah concentrated his troops in Nador during the siege of Melilla at Nador.
Places to visit
Nador is a city that invites you to stroll through its historic centre and admire the beautiful buildings. A walk along the seafront at Corniche di Nador is not to be missed and if you are a nature lover, close by Mount Gurugù has lovely woods and various species of wild animals. The minaret of the mosque of Mohamed V A is worth a visit, it is a sand-coloured minaret that stands out against the blue sky.
Beaches
There is a little known beach called Mar Chica, which is a beach that sits on little peninsular that separates the open sea from the Mar Chica. There are some other, breathtaking beaches with transparent waters close to Nador, such as Kariat, which has some excellent restaurants to enjoy some local fish. Cabo de Agua is another place immersed in nature that invites you to swim in the clear and transparent waters.
