The United Kingdom is was the first state in the world to have been industrialized and represents a model of parliamentary democracy that has inspired other modern Western European democracies. It is made up of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

Places to visit

London is one of the most beautiful and fascinating cities in Europe, it has palaces, historic architecture, beautiful streets and museums and extraordinary parks and gardens. In Scotland, Edinburgh combines the beauty of ancient buildings with the modernity of contemporary architecture and do not miss Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Palace and the Royal Mile.

Cardiff is the capital of Wales, a mining and port city, today it is a lively cultural hub and the Castle and the National Museum are two places not to be missed. Belfast, is the capital of Northern Ireland and has an extremely beautiful Victorian park, a hilltop castle, the Titanic museum and the Renaissance-style town hall. Bath is a spa town in the south of England. Liverpool on the River Mersey is unmissable and the birthplace of the Beatles!

English Food

English food is multicultural and the national dish is Tikka Massalla, a curry! Another popular dish is the Sunday roast - a Sunday Roast is a plate of roast meat and vegetables covered with gravy, traditionally eaten on a Sunday at lunchtime. The UK is also famous for puddings, from bread and butter pudding, treacle and syrup sponge - there are many hot puddings to choose from, all served with a dollop of custard!  During the Victorian era, breakfast was used to serve Kedgeree, a dish influenced by India, made with rice, cod, pea eggs and lots of fragrant spices. There are many biscuits and cakes to accompany an afternoon tea.
