Port of Amsterdam

The port of Amsterdam is one of the largest in Europe, located between Lake Ij and the North Sea channel. The passenger ferry is located in an area called IJmuiden, near the neighbouring lake. It was opened in the 13th century and used as one of the main ports for the Dutch East India Company.

Today, it is an important passenger port but also for cargo such as oil and coal. The port of Amsterdam covers a vast area connected by roads, railways, quays and green spaces. It is state-of-the-art, so it has attracted many companies that have invested in the innovative "green" solutions here.

The passenger terminal, IJmuiden is just minutes from the city center and allows transit passengers to reach the city's major attractions easily, there are also hotels and restaurants in the vicinity of the terminal.
