The port of Almeria, on the southern coast of Spain, is located in the city centre and mainly serves ferries. The port also has a cargo area for goods and an area for cruise ships. The most ferry connections are with North Africa to the ports of Al Hoceima and Nador. The passenger terminal is very busy full of tourists and visitors travelling to the North African coast, between Morocco and Algeria.
Inside the passenger terminal, there are ticket offices for each company operating at the port, the terminal is always open and refreshments are available from cafes and a shop. There is an indoor parking area for cars and a waiting room for passengers travelling without a vehicle. The boarding gate for foot passengers is on the first floor of the terminal building, near passport control.
How to reach the port of Almeria
The port can be reached from various points in the city onboard buses L18, L30 and L6. They lead directly to the terminal, disembark at Calle Doctor Gregorio Marañón, which is closest to the port. If you are arriving by car from Madrid, take the A4 southbound and then the A9 continuing towards Almeria until exit 438, from here there are directions to the port.
There is hardly any parking at the terminal, but there are companies like ParkVIa that offer 24 hour guarded parking and transfers to and from the port, the service is bookable online. The nearest international airport is Granada, about 150 km away, it is connected via the A2 road or onboard ALSA buses.
