The main port for Schinoussa is located in the village of Mersini, in the western part of the island. The natural harbor is renowned for being one of the best moorings in the Aegean for small boats and yachts. Schinoussa is connected to Piraeus and other major Cycladic ports.

The port is just under a kilometer from the center Chora along an easily walkable street. Coming from Athens Aiport, Schinoussa port can be reached on ferry from Piraeus. To reach the port of Piraeus take the suburban train from the airport, it should take an hour and trains leave every hour. Alternaitvely, you can reach Piraeus on the Oasa bus, the number X96 which runs every twenty minutes and takes about 1.5 hours. Another option to reach Piraeus from the Athens airport is to take the metro, on line 3 (blue) to Monastiraki and change onto line 1 (green) to Piraeus. Mykonos and Santorini airports are nearby, but ferry connections are not direct and do not coincide with the arrival of the aircraft. The route requires a ferry change to Naxos or Amorgos.
